How To Attract More Customers To Your Store
A lot of the advice you’ll find online will relate to online stores, and although some of that information will be useful to you if you operate a physical store, not all of it will be relevant, and there will be a lot missed out that you might find useful. When it comes to understanding how to attract more customers to your store, it can be hard to find the information you need – after all, persuading people to physically enter a store is far different from persuading them to check out your website. With that in mind, here are some ways you can do it and find new customers.
Be Honest With Yourself
If you don’t have people coming to your store, you might assume that it’s because they are all buying online. This will be true to some extent (in which case, could you benefit from moving your business online?), but it might not be everything, and this is why you need to be honest with yourself – what other reasons could there be for people to ignore your store even if they are walking past it?
To do this, you need to be entirely objective, which won’t be easy but will be necessary. You have to look at your store and consider what it is that is good and what is bad. Look at the outside, of course, but also take the interior into consideration. If the store is dark and cluttered, for example, it won’t be somewhere people want to be. If the products are low quality or if passers-by can’t tell what it is you are selling, you’ll have problems. Be honest with yourself and make the changes you need to make to attract them into your store.
Make The Front Look Appealing
It’s crucial that the outside of your store looks wonderful and appealing. If it does not, people will walk by. Even if they had thought they had wanted to buy from you, when they arrive and the signage is old and battered, or the windows are dirty, or they can’t work out how to get inside, they’ll move on.
Start by improving your branded signs to ensure everyone knows what you do and what you sell. If the signage is interesting, exciting, and easy to read, you’ll find many more people will be willing to come to you – they’ll know they can get what they want. Good signage will also catch people’s attention, and even those who might not have known you existed before will realize you are there and potentially want to buy from you.
Use Social Media
There is probably a reason you have a physical store rather than (or as well as) an online one. Perhaps you don’t like the internet very much, and you feel your clientele is more traditional. However, even if this is the case, that doesn’t mean you should use social media to help advertise your business. It can actually be a hugely beneficial thing to do, and you can reach a much wider audience in this way.
Facebook and Instagram have long been regarded as the best options for business, but TikTok is becoming very useful in this regard as well. It really depends on where your audience tends to be, and this will require market research. Once you have the answer, you can create ads on social media to attract more customers; throw in some discounts and special offers, and you should see your sales grow.
