First, remove the burner grate, the cap, and the base. Then clean any kind of debris there with a small toothpick. Then, clean the burner grate and the other parts properly and set them back. You can check the wires properly so that it can ignite back.
If it still does not work, you can simply replace the burner, you can ask the professional to do it.
The Range Burner & The Oven Would Not Heat
If your range burner is not heating, it is probably due to food debris. However, if it goes bad and does not work, you can remove the faulty burner and replace it with a fresh one. Here is how to test if your range burner is working or not: remove the faulty one and place a working one in its position. If this is working well, the burner is the problem.
Also, if at all the working burner does not heat up, the problem is not with the burner but the switch. Check the switch for any replacement or repairs. If your oven is not heating, it might be due to the igniter. Check for the heating element again and if it is not working, it is the fault with the igniter.
You will require the help of an oven repair professional to handle this. If you are careful, you can do it by getting to the igniter by removing the storage drawer and then finding out.
The Oven Will Not Heat Properly
Even if the oven is heating up, it is not heating to the right temperature. For this problem, it may be due to the temperature sensor, the gas igniter, or the element. Here is what you can do before you call over the professional: check the temperature sensor, it should not be having any contact with the wall of the oven.
Also, if you have an ohmmeter nearby, you can make sure that the sensor is alright by checking the resistance when the temperature rises. The resistance should not rise and if it does, it is not a good sign. If the sensor is not working properly, you should probably replace it. If everything is well, you should probably recalibrate the oven once. Adjust the temperature slowly using the dial.
The Oven Door Will Not Simply Shut
If at all the oven door is not shutting, you need to turn off the oven, check the hinges of the door. If they are not tight, tighten them up a bit. Then, you can check if there are any broken door springs and if you find any of them, it is better to not use the oven then because any oven that does not shut is not safe for use. Hence, get the oven door replaced as quickly as possible.
There are many other common problems such as the interior light would not work and to fix this, you need to replace the old bulb with the new one. Do it carefully and if possible, ask a professional to do it. You can also replace the oven if it has become too old. If at all the oven is not cleaning by itself, you can make sure that you are setting the timers and the knobs correctly.
Apart from that, you can also manage the cleaning of the ovens whenever there are large spills. Call an oven repair person to do all this maintenance if it gets tough for you.
