Easy Ways to Brighten Up Your Kitchen
Your kitchen is supposed to be the heart of your home. It’s meant the be a room where you can enjoy experimenting with new recipes and spending time with your family. There are many advantages to preparing fresh, homemade meals, and inevitably we cook more when our kitchens make us happy. We often feel calmer and more creative in brighter rooms, and so you might find that brightening up your kitchen means that you, and the rest of your household, spend more time in it, enjoy cooking more, and develop healthier cooking and eating habits.
Add Extra Lighting
First, look at your main light. Are you using a bright bulb that gives you good light when you are cooking at night in the dark? If not, upgrade to something brighter. You might then want to use a kohls coupon to find lamps and other lights to brighten the space and help you to set an atmosphere. This can be especially handy if you also eat in the kitchen and want to change the mood or if your room is particularly large. Adding lights to darker cupboards can also be beneficial and make it much easier to find the ingredients you need.
Welcome in Natural Light
If possible, let more natural light into your kitchen. This won’t just make it brighter; it will also make the space appear larger and improve your mood. Clean your kitchen windows regularly, and make sure they’re kept clear so that the light is never blocked.
Add Mirrors
Mirrors are another great way to make the space seem bigger than it is, and they can work to reflect the light coming into the room, increasing the brightness.
Add Splashes of Color
Good kitchens are functional. They give you everything that you need to cook, they are easy to clean, and they offer plenty of storage, making it easy to keep things tidy. But that certainly doesn’t mean that they can’t also be fun. Add splashes of color to your kitchen with houseplants, wall art, patterned tiles, and interesting knobs on cupboards and drawers.
Change Your Cupboard Doors
If your kitchen is feeling a little dated, one of the easiest ways to revamp it without spending a fortune is changing your cupboard doors. Take them down, sand them, and paint them a new color. Add new handles or knobs too. Or, if they are damaged, buy completely new doors to fit your existing cupboards. This is much cheaper than changing your whole unit, but just as effective.
Give it a Fresh Coat of Paint
Painting your walls is a great way to refresh a room without putting in too much effort. Even if you paint the same color, a fresh coat will make everything seem cleaner and brighter.
If you’ve got plain tiles in your kitchen, adding tile stickers and decals is easier than retiling the whole room.
If your kitchen is old, dated, and has years of built-up grease and dirt, it might be time for a big renovation project. But, for most of us, brightening up our kitchens is a much smaller job, requiring just a few changes and additions.
